Social Media Princess

I have been learning about instagram, twitter, hootsuite, canva.com and other things over the last few weeks. It has been very challenging.  But I am making  new habits and picking up  my blogs again.

Follow me on twitter @lindaleeoils.

Here is the weekly recipe which I am using for dinner this Sunday when my son brings his girlfriend home from college.

“Club” Frittata

  •                              1 dozen eggs
  •                              1 cup heavy cream
  •                              One eight ounce block of cream cheese
  •                              1 1/2 cups of diced turkey (chicken or sausage)
  •                              1/2 cup bacon bits
  •                              1 large tomato (seeded and diced)
  •                               1/2 cup scallion (optional)
  •                               1 tsp. salt
  •                               1/2 tsp.  pepper

               Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Generously butter 9×13 inch glass baking dish.

Whisk together eggs, cream, salt, pepper, and scallions.

Over bottom of buttered dish, distribute turkey or other meats, bacon and tomatoes. Slowly pour egg mixture evenly over ingredients. Pinch off small pieces of cream cheese and drop evenly over egg mixture.

Bake in preheated oven for approximately 35 minutes.(Knife inserted into center should come out clean, top should be just golden brown.)

I have made this for my family and EVERYBODY liked it.  This doesn’t happen often (I only have five or so recipes that fit that description.)

I hope you enjoy this recipe.

Do you have recipes that EVERYBODY likes?  I would greatly appreciate you sharing them!

Got Shalom?

b7486-dscf9885 Shalom y’all,
I know I had a post like the one I am about to write, but I couldn’t find it in a timely manner.
Why do I begin and end each post with Shalom?
Shalom is a Hebrew word (I am not Jewish and I do not speak Hebrew). It is so rich in its meaning: nothing broken, nothing missing, contentment, wholeness, harmony, completeness, health, peace, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fulness and rest, free from agitation or discord.
This is what I say to you as I am writing the words.
In the midst of the mess (sometimes our circumstances are really bad) you can have this Shalom.
Jesus Christ offers you and freely gives you Shalom. No strings attached.
Well, let me be truthful it comes with His unfailing love too.
He can take your challenging life and give you peace in return. Again your situation may…

Black Bean and Quinoa Salad

Shalom, y’all,
I have forgotten in all my rush to be a social media queen that I am supposed to post a weekly recipe. While I usually post a soup recipe this week it will be this yummy quinoa (KEEN wa) salad.
I am looking for ways to use a couple of pounds of organic quinoa that I found while cleaning out my kitchen. It is now in the freezer awaiting great recipes. I think this one is really good.

Black Bean and Quinoa Salad

1 can organic black beans
1 cup quinoa, rinsed well (Use 1 1/2 cups if you are eliminating the black beans)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 tablespoons coconut aminos
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
Salt
1 Small chipotle in adobo, minced
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
6 scallions, thinly sliced
1 small red onion, finely diced
1 yellow pepper, finely diced
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 medium tomatoes, diced (optional)
1 avocado

Drain and rinse the black beans.
Place quinoa in a saucepan with 2 cups water (or three cups if you are eliminating the beans and doubling the quinoa.) Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and cook for about fifteen minutes, just until all the water is absorbed. Remove from the heat, pour into a wide shallow bowl and allow to cool.
In a large bowl whisk the vinegar, and coconut aminos. lime juice, and chipotle pepper, along with a pinch of salt. Add the olive oil, slowly, whisking constantly until dressing is well blended.
Add the black beans (if using), quinoa, scallions, red onion, bell pepper and cilantro. Season to taste with additional salt, freshly ground pepper and more lime juice if needed. Toss well to combine.
This can be served as a side dish, or as a light meal. Serve it over a bed of mixed greens topped with diced tomatoes and chunks of avocado.

Notes: I remember that I didn’t use onions. That will be added next time. I used garlic and feta cheese. I love avocado but did not have one. My sister made it with zuchini, ever so thinly sliced. I didn’t use coconut aminos or black beans. It was still delicious. I am making it again this week. I might spring for the other ingredients.

This recipe is from Doug Kaufman’s Cooking Your way to Good Health.
I hope you enjoy this dish.

Dancing Naked on the table.

Shalom, y’all.
Years ago I answered the phone.
On the other end of the line was the uncommonly weak and small voice of my best friend.
Her opening remark to me was, “I just said something that I never thought I would have to say to one of my children.”
I ran about ten scenarios in my head in the millisecond it took me to respond with, “What’s wrong?”.
She said, “I came in from another room and he (name withheld to protect a man in his mid twenties that the boy has become) was there buck naked, dancing on the top of the dining room table. I couldn’t think of anything else to say except, ‘Stop dancing naked on the table'”.
Mirth and concern for my dear friend’s psyche were bubbling over at almost the exact proportions at that second.
I comforted her with the obvious, “You will probably never have to say that again.”
I know this is a cute story and it is true, but one of the reasons I shared it today was to ask this question: Do you have a similar story about finding yourself in a situation where you said something that didn’t even sound like you? Please share it here if you can.
Oh, yes, the second reason I told the story is so we could all laugh.
Follow up question. When was the last time you laughed so hard it hurt?

Happiness now!

Shalom, y’all,
Scheduled my tweets (@lindaleeoils) for the rest of the day and tomorrow, for multiple reasons. One, I am making a conscious decision not to let social media “rule my life”. Reason number two: tomorrow is packed to the top and I will not have the time to post until after 7 p.m.
No, I don’t think the world will stop if I don’t tweet or post a blog, but I am trying to make a new habit.
I have been told that “I can not ‘make it big” in network marketing without a presence on social media”. So, here I am.
I have also consciously decided that my life isn’t going to be all about Young Living Essential Oils although I really love the oils and my oils business.
I will only blog about the oils every two weeks or so. If you want more than that my other blog (yes I mean I have two blogs) at abundanceofjoyessentialoils.com is ALL about oils Because it is my Young Living website.
Most of the tweets I scheduled today were about happiness.
I love being happy.
I smile in Wal Mart…Often I am the only one in Wal Mart smiling. I am not kidding. People looked surprised when my smile is directed at them. Sometimes I perceive that my smile bothers them… I smile anyway.
I once heard of a study that determined when you smile at someone you add three months to their lives. I immediately thought there is just no way to quantify that. But what if it just adds one day, one hour, one minute? I know it is a big thought, but who knows?
I have learned something about happiness and joy:
I want them both and sometimes they both come with pretty high price tags.
I won’t let circumstances, no matter the duration decide anything for me.
Happiness is a choice.
Joy is deeper. It wells up and bubbles out when I least expect it now.
This certainly does NOT mean that I don’t get frustrated or mad as heck sometimes, but I get back on the road to joy a lot more quickly.
Thank you for reading this post.
What are some ways, you have chosen to be happy-in the midst of the mess?
If you are not happy now, why not take your happiness back and keep it for a bit longer this time. This is a habit worth every second you put into it!

Shalom,
Linda Lee

When everything works just like it’s supposed to.

Shalom, y’all,
I should tell you right off the bat that from my experience that “everything working just like it is supposed to” doesn’t happen very often and when it does it is usually only for a short time.
Kids healthy, school going okay, good friends still GOOD.
The question isn’t,”When will the tragedy strike?”
The question is, “Where are your feet, right now?”
The Bible is very clear that when you are in miry clay (bad circumstances) the Lord can rescue you. He is really good at the rescue biz.
But what if we hadn’t moved from a position of REST and peace that God put us in when he rescued us the last time? I know, some of you are not believers but that doesn’t change the FACT that God still watches over you and cares for you. HE LOVES YOU!
In the last two years some of the worst things that ever happened to me- happened at some times such a break neck pace that I hadn’t even processed the last one. I will not name any specific situation so not to take anything away from your challenge.
Be strong where you are right now.
Strengthen yourself in the LORD. Build on what you learned last time you went through “a rough patch”.
This is what God told me about the last two years (Yes, God speaks in a way YOU will understand HIM). “You were in a flood. But every time you ran to ME, and were saved. The time it took you to run to me was almost always shorter than the last time. Some times you were still in the Strong Tower because you hadn’t left from the last time circumstances tried to take you away. Don’t leave the Strong Tower of My NAME. When the enemy came in like a flood I raised Myself up as a Standard against him…Your feet were on THE ROCK and My Name will never give way. You didn’t loose ground. You gained in every episode. Well done, Well done, Well done… I say, well done. Now on to new things. It’s done! well done”
I share this with you because He says the same to you, “Well done”.
Be encouraged ask for wisdom and understanding and he will give it yo you.
Be strong and courageous and if you can’t be…HE IS an ever present help in time of trouble.

Shalom,
Linda Lee

He can take your challenging life and give you peace in return. Again your situation may not change but you can have JOY anyway.
This has been my experience as I walk with him and listen for His voice.
The Message Bible puts it like this: “Are you tired? Worn Out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you will recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill fitting on you. keep company with me and you will learn to live freely and lightly”.
Those are the words of Jesus from Matthew 11:2728-30.
This is the best offer you will EVER get: Trade your problems for HIS shalom.
How about today? What challenges do you need to trade today? What will you do to encourage someone today?
Please share your thoughts with us. Leave your comments at the end of this post. Thank you.
Again, I close with,

Shalom.

P.S. One day I will archive these posts…Nothing is easy yet, even
though wordpress.com IS impressive.
I couldn’t find the post of why I begin and end each post with Shalom.
I will look again if I still can’t find it. I will rewrite it tomorrow.
P.P.S. I hope to at least have a header tomorrow and maybe a widget that
plays music.

Hello!

Shalom, y’all,

I am in the process of exporting my blog from blogger.com.  I haven’t been successful after two tries.  I am pretty computer illiterate…so four easy steps -that  really do look easy- can turn into days.

I am on a steep learning curve.

Reading about leadership: my Young Living Essential oils business is at spontaneous combustion level.  I have to learn to lead leaders. I am about to have 6-10.  It is a whole different ballgame. My team has over 400 members.

Do you have any questions about Essential oils? Peruse my website

i would love to answer them.  Leave a comment or email me. As my niece said to me, “Oils are cool now.”  That tickled me…when I started just about 4 1/2 years ago I had to explain what they were to almost everybody. Now it’s trending!  WooHoo! Does that make ME cool????  Not so much. Oh well.

Also reading about blogging.  Yes, I can imagine that sounds like watching paint dry but actually Michael Hyatt’s Platform is an easy read.  I have already incorporated three or four of his suggestions after starting the book just last night.  I have a long way to go.

I will try to spruce this up a lot.

Did I mention twitter, and navigating hootsuite and learning how to make social media graphics on canva.com?  All of this since last Thursday.

I blog about: having Joy in the midst of the mess a whole lot; quantum physics, when I can understand  enough to put in more than buzzwords; the God of the Bible. I unabashedly LOVE HIM and He loves me first.  I post  a recipes that I have tried and have passed the husband and four child test and once every week or two I post about oils.

I hope you enjoy my blog as I usually enjoy doing it…Oh yeah, I am honest too!

Shalom,

Linda Lee

On to WordPress!

Shalom, y’all.
This might be my last blog here at blogspot.com.
I  am switching to WordPress, ASAP, today if it is as easy as it sounds ….
I plan to export my blog- the whole thing to Word Press.
Right now I am in the midst of stepping up to the plate and swinging for the fences.
Reading a book about blogs and planning changes.
Reading a book about leadership, as it it my intention to have 4 or 5 people get to the rank of Silver in my Young Living business this year.  Leaders have to be out in front….HERE I GO!!!!!
Cracking down on the laziness that seeped into my children’s lives because I got lazy when I could barely keep my head above water over the past two years.  Sometimes the water got WAY high…  Sometimes because I am a closet drama queen and sometimes because there REALLY WAS A FLOOD.
Laziness has been quite fickle…I don’t think I like Lazy, no not one little bit.
I have been told I need to be on twitter (tweeting at least 3 times a day)…Yikes!
I have been told that I need to blog at least three times a week.
I am learning to make my own social media graphics…The first one was a little cheesy, but it WAS my first try.  I love it ant way.
I have been encouraged to guest blog.  That is scary.
I have been flat out told to start blogging on wordpress, where it will be easier for you to comment and connect with me.  I really want to hear from you….IS anyone out there?  My stats say 3000 plus have come to my blog, only three have left comments.
    So I am switching.
Did I mention that I am deep cleaning my whole house one pile, one corner, three drawers at a time?
    Why?
I was helping my sister clean the camp my parents moved into while building their last home.
One day, 6 people cleaned for a total of 52 hours.  The next week, four people cleaned for 20 plus hours.  That day, as I was about six hours into a ten hour kitchen cleaning, I realized that my house has never been clean.  I thought deep cleaning was 4-6 hours for the whole house.  HA!
I have ten hours invested in my kitchen (all cabinets, cleaned, sorted and repapered).  Everything cleaned now except for under the stove and the inside of the freezers.  Then painting.
That will probably be 14 hours for my kitchen alone.  I never dreamed it was possible.
I wrote a ten year vision statement last week.
    Try it!
What you walk toward your plan your plan starts to move toward you!
I look forward to the next ten years.  Filled with surprises, gifts from God, grandchildren,  joy,
tears, grief, hard work and FUN!
Thanks for coming to my blog!

                                            See you on wordpress,
                                                    Shalom,
                                                      Linda Lee
